Looking for people interested in participating in an Adopt-A-Highway clean up at the Hwy 115 access point at Ashburnham drive.
We will meet at the Dynacast Peterborough Parking Lot at 485 Ashburnham Drive, with a planned 10am start (see the yellow circle with yellow arrow on the map). We will then cross over the bridge to that area we will be cleaning (the two red areas on the map). We cleaned the red area on the south side of Ashburnham in the spring – we may do light cleaning on that side then focus most of our time on the red area on the north side of Ashburnham – this area has never been cleaned before. Ignore the blue area – we will one day work on that area once we have enough volunteers.
I have bags, grabbers and vests for everyone. If you have a pair of work or gardening gloves – please bring them with you. During our spring clean up – some people found it easier to pick up litter with their hands, which is where gardening gloves come in handy.
For safety purposes – we will ALL work together, so we are a visible unit. We are NOT allowed to pick up litter on the shoulder of the 115, and cannot cross under the bridge, We will try to salvage clean recycling, and found in the spring it was easier for some people to focus only on recycling, and others only on garbage. Our garbage drop spot is behind the guardrail right where we will start – look for the white dot in the west red triangle.
Please wear long pants and sturdy boots. It is supposed to be cloudy, between 13C and 16C). Bring some water and a snack with you – we will make sure to take breaks along the way. I have attached the Adopt-A Highway safety guidelines which are pretty straightforward. I will go thru everything again tomorrow morning.
If you show up after 10am – please park and cross the bridge to meet up with us
